personality
Justice, Injustice, Shadow, Midnight, and Justin ---Five names for the same boy; the same boy whose personality is as complicated as any other, but maybe a bit more, if only because of circumstance. If only because of birth. If only because of experience. If only because of stress. If only because of drastic measures. If only because of hard decisions. If only because without the complications Justice himself would fall apart. At least, that’s how Justice himself sees it. Or--how Justice himself forces him to see it, maybe so that he doesn’t fall apart leaving the rest. So we’ll start with Justice first of all.
Justice was born a prince, and he will always have the blood of a prince, the air of the prince, and the pride of a prince. Justice’s pride may be the driving force that keeps him in charge, what keeps him the leading personality in this life of his. He’s incredibly prideful, but not necessarily in the haughty sense. No, it’s not that he really feels superior to everyone else, only that he feels as if he’s got a certain amount of worth and certain things could stain that worth, and he couldn’t have that. For example, Justice, though he doesn’t think he’s prettier than anyone in particular, has a certain pride about his appearance. He would be embarrassed to be seen in attire that wouldn’t flatter him, but he doesn’t see other people as lower than him just because they don’t wear or look fabulous.
Justice is also impressively intellectual. No, Justice is a genius. He’s what you’d call the kid who knows too much about too many things, and he doesn’t stop learning. His analytical skills are impressive all on their own, but combined with his exceptional mental speed and capacity, Justice can think up to a hundred steps ahead of whatever it is he does. Justice loves Chess, and he’s never lost a match before; he loves any game that requires mental processes to win. He often makes battle plans or fighting strategies during his spare time, and anytime he’s in public, he literally takes the mental effort to process every possible turn of events within the next moments as he goes through life.
Someone as smart as Justice might be assumed to not really care about others; they’re all below him in intelligence, right? Wrong. Justice has a heart for people like few others. He loves people, and he feels it his duty as a human being to do his best to help those around him. On the island, this urge is slightly less passionate than it was in his homeland, only because before he ruled over the people, and now he is simply one of the people ruled by no one. Along with his love for people flows his love for creatures. Though Justice can’t claim to love all animals, he tries. Pokemon especially are some creatures that he enjoys being around, and he’s recently been trying to adapt to the creatures of the island.
Justice has a rather strong sense of, well, Justice. His moral compass is almost always set in one direction, the direction he dubs as ‘right’, and anything outside of that zone is something he would fight to fix. Justice has a passion for people who are afflicted by darkness, and he has a passion against those who afflict others with darkness by their ignorance to the moral spectrum of right and wrong. Justice couldn’t even justify killing another person over anything, but he would struggle to help Right prevail in the end.
Injustice on the other hand, conflicts with Justice in most of the highliting points of Justice’s personality. For example, Injustice is extremely prideful in a much more negative and haughty way. He believes himself to be better than most everyone he meets and he isn’t afraid to say it. This can be dangerous, especially when he’s right about his being better at something, because InJustice isn’t afraid to rub things in, take advantage of winning, or overexaggerate his own genius, commonly bringing other people down.
The compassion that Justice feels for people is completely void in InJustice, only caring about himself and his wishes and personal agenda. If anything gets in his way, whether it be a person or an object, he isn’t afraid to get rid of it using drastic means. On a similar note, Injustice’s sense of Justice also comes into play here, in a much different way than is manifested in Justice. His sense of Justice completely revolves around himself. He believes that he is the one who determines what is right and wrong, and that whatever he says is enough reason to justify his own actions. Don’t make InJustice mad, because he’s not afraid to judge you as a horrible person for interfering in his actions.
Like Justice, Injustice is smart, but he’s also impressively manipulative, and far beyond Justice’s capabilities. While Justice has the innate ability to use his knowledge and resources to coerce someone into doing something, his moral compass wouldn’t allow him to use anything but similar resources to help him out. InJustice, however, isn’t afraid to get down and dirty with his manipulation. He’s not afraid to use memories, phobies, triggers, memories, etc to fix the problem he makes for himself.
Because InJustice wasn’t an actual split of Justice’s soul personality via natural means, InJustice is completely aware of the actions that occur in Justice’s body and he usually remembers everything. Because of the fact that Justice’s will is stronger than InJustice, it’s often hard to Injustice to take initial control, and often harder for him to keep control, but InJustice is also very manipulative, so it’s possible for him to get the upper hand by using Justice’s own mind against him.
Another way that Justice could be easily changed to InJustice would be via Dark Magics or influences. Though the mere presence wouldn’t directly change things, it’d be much easier to affect Justice to succumb to InJustice when Darkness is involved in the process. Something that may or may not be obvious that coincides with this is that the presence of light magics or influences will make it easier for Justice to keep control of himself.
Shadow is also a bit confusing, as he isn’t really a separate ‘personality’ per say. He’s more of an act, put on by both Justice and InJustice, in almost the same way, with merely a different approach. When Justice or InJustice puts on their mask, it’s as if a trigger is activated within them, changing them into the persona of Shadow himself, who is another being, but in reality, it’s not anything all that psychological, it’s merely a frame of mind change that both Justice and InJustice put into place in order for Shadow as a ‘character’ to work successfully. One thing that does change is that both Justice and InJustice become more theatrical, the world becoming a stage from which to display either his Justice or his power, and Shadow does so by utilizing every resource he can, something Justice or InJustice may or may not usually do, sometimes tending to hold back.
Shadow’s actions are usually grandiose, partially because of his dramatic nature, and partially because of the fact that he uses all the resources he can in his actions. Another difference is obviously that Shadow tries to live within his mask, meaning he’ll be sneaky, and he’ll do what it takes to keep his true identity a mystery.
If Injustice dons the mask, he’ll not be afraid to wreak havoc on people and killing won’t be void from his thoughts; Justice donning the mask however will result in a more pacifistic rebel who wouldn’t really resort to many excessive means, but he would be more manipulative than normal, if only to keep his identity hidden.
Midnight is a whole other creature entirely; literally. Midnight is basically what happens when InJustice loses all control over his darkness, or what happens when Justice breaks down. Both of those situations are incredibly unlikely considering all of Justice’s personas have high resolves, but if it does happen, it’d be good to be out of his way.
Midnight is literally a monster, a killing machine. He lives for pain, he lives for death, he lives at the expense of others. It’s as if all of the madness, all of the pain and darkness, all of the rage and explosive violence that Justice himself hid away with his own masks are all released and take form in one being that has completely sporadic tendencies. You can’t ever really tell what Midnight will do next, or really how he got there in the first place. Midnight isn’t afraid to do whatever his dark side tells him to do, and his fear disappeared right along with his inhibitions.
Midnight really isn’t what anyone could call human in nature, and is as close to a beast as you can get without being an actual ‘monster’ per say. He can growl and roar at times, and it’s as if the moral tendencies that humans posess flew out the window along with the pride that usually kept Justice from doing anything all that drastic.
It’s unknown what could ever cause Midnight to emerge from the depths of Justice’s heart; other than the fact that he’s only ever come out at night, nothing is really known. Because of his state, there isn’t much that could really be said about Midnight’s personality, simply because there isn’t really much personality to speak of. Just watch out if he’s there.
Justin is the little boy Justice always wanted to be. He’s the little boy Justice faintly remembers being at some point.. He’s the little boy Justice tells himself he’s fighting to protect. Justin(nocent) is a practically memoryless version of Justice who dons the personality of a pure and innocent child. He is joyful, happy, and always excited, just like the happiest of little boys you could see.
He is easily scared, and he’s clingy too, so lead him through the dark and you’ve got yourself a tugged shirt for the rest of the way through. All the pride that Justice has has basically vanished, and has been replaced by a sort of humble caring for others. Justin wants others to be happy, because happiness makes him happy. Seeing Justin as opposed to Justice would be quite a change, his voice even being lighter than the normal Justice, and it’s apparent that Justin doesn’t want to go back to somewhere..but he’ll never say where.
Justin’s also slightly slower than his other counterparts, his mind more focused on those around him and the emotions they exude. He finds so many things beautiful and pretty; why waste time over-analyzing things? Justin also doesn’t have that much of a definite sense of right and wrong. What’s right to him is easily smeared by the facade of friendship and happiness. It’s not that he’s gullible to his friends, it’s that he cares more about his friends than some silly set of morals that he’d have to spend the time to work out.
Justin seems to be the alternative form of what would happen, should Justice break down. If it isn’t Midnight that appears, it’d be Justin, but it’s not clear what changes that would make him appear over Midnight. Also, Justin is the only persona that lives within Justice’s dreams, and he was the persona that was awake when Justice first opened his eyes on the beach of the Island, though that has yet to be explained.
Overall, Justice himself is still the main ruling power in his body, and, for the most part, the other personas all retain a specific part of Justice within them. Isn’t that how demons work? They take one part of you and corrupt the rest. Justice wants things to just be how they were when he was younger. When he was a prince and none of the rest mattered. But he can’t have that; he’s got to deal with his demons one day or another. In reality, Justice is simply hoping that the day doesn’t come when he can’t restrain the other part of him. Justice wants to be himself again, but the rest of him have different plans in store. Which part of him will win? It’s all up to circumstance now..

history
It was a cold winter evening, and the stars had shown the proof. Of the twins born amidst the snow and the diamond dust that night, the boy would be the heir to the throne, by decree of the God of Space no less. Justice and Camellia were born, only minutes apart, but the sign in the sky said that Justice would rule while Camellia would be forced to live in the sidelines. Justice would be king one day, and Camellia wouldn’t even be allowed to sit in his throneroom.
Luckily, Justice never used that against Camellia. He always loved his sister, more than anything else he loved; more than being a prince, more than the pampering, more than getting whatever he wanted, he loved his sister. His sister on the other hand, wasn’t sad, she was planning. She wasn’t upset, she was ready. While Justice loved his Sister, Camellia acted like the perfect little sister, even though all throughout their years she grew to despise him.
As was tradition, both Justice and Camellia had to walk the tunnel of eggs. Justice had to walk it to show the legitimacy of his royal destiny, and Camellia had to walk the tunnel only because it was customary for twins to walk the tunnel simultaneously. This was her chance. As Justice walked along the tunnel, his hand moving along, feeling for any motion, Camellia strutted right behind him, so close really that Justice was stepped on by her shoes a couple time because her anticipation got the best of her once or twice.
As an egg reacted to Justice’s touch, the sign of his legitimacy in his destiny to hold the throne of the Diamond Kingdom, Camellia quickly noticed the reaction first and grabbed the egg before Justice had even realized what had happened. Justice was devastated. His own sister betrayed him by stealing his birthright twice in a row, once through his title, and the second time through his Pokemon. Of course, the people were shocked, as well. The boy who was supposedly destined to rule the kingdom didn’t even get an egg, but his illegitimate sister did. The irony as Justice watched his sister be dubbed king as he was exiled to be nothing but a slave for the ‘Queen’’s orders.
At First, Camellia, as queen, pretended that she was ‘sparing’ Justice’s life since he’d done nothing to upset the throne other than complain at the initial betrayal. Instead of sending him to prison for falsely assuming the title of a prince, Camellia used Justice as a pawn for other countries, sending him back and forth, using his intellect as a tool for her own benefit, using the Brother Card to gain sympathy at the same time.
Of course, as with all things, there came a time when Justice’s time of use came to an end. When Camellia realized that Justice was no longer as useful to her cause as she’d thought, she accused him of treason and rebellious speaking and he was instantly sent to prison. Little did Camellia know that Justice had been in the Forest of Time and had been blessed with the burdon of caring for a Pokemon, and then quickly forced to abandon his gift by being arrested. It’s not like she would have cared anyway. When the creature was left, she eventually became the heir to the throne of the Forest from which she originated, becoming the princess of the fairies of the Forest of time.
Justice was in prison for a while, and if he’d wanted to, he could have escaped the prison known as ‘inescapable’. He knew everything that went on there, and he knew how to save himself. He knew about the secret evacuation tunnels, about the place where the extra key was hidden, about the ‘warmwood’, the drug the proctors gave the prisoners so that they would feel ‘warm’ in the winter(of course, Justice also knew that the drug was a powerful sedative, preventing most inmates from even thinking about escaping).
Then, one day, a breakout did occur, but not by Justice’s hand. It was by the prisoners. Some of them had weaned off of the warmwood, and the rest were doing whatever they could to help the inmates that were relatively sober. Justice didn’t understand at first why he was being released, but he was soon informed that they helped him escape because they knew that he was different, because he was the only one who cared for them in the Prison, and the only one who could ever help the rest of the world by showing them that love.
Af first, Justice scoffed at such hero-esque thinking from a bunch of criminals, but he did realize that over the months he was imprisoned, he’d inadvertently become close to the criminals in the prison, caring for them, loving his people. His people. Those two words triggered the switch that would allow Justice to continue with the thoughts and plans that were nothing but planted in his mind ages ago. Rebellion.
Justice escaped thanks to the inmates, and he erased all records of his existence from the prison, something relatively easy to do when few records were taken anyway. Justice was free, he was safe, he had escaped, and it was then his job to form his rebellion. He started, and recruited who he could, staying under the radar, staying out of his sister’s grasp.
He snagged who he could to be a part of his ‘organization’, the White Knights. Justice knew that his attempts were small, but he’d already gotten himself a base. The Savage Inn was the perfect setup that Justice needed; it was an inn within ten blocks from the castle; THE castle, where his greatest nemesis lay. He continued grabbing those he could; he wrote to his old advisers who were then advisers to the queen, he caused infatuation in the girl who worked to save the queen from danger, he blackmailed the knights of Crystal, and he even got a magical Scyther to help him in his cause.
Things began to change when he met the God of space, who rallied behind his Sister, and the God of Time, who rallied behind himself. Justice and his sister had been caught between two conflicting powers the entire time and it took Justice years to realize it. When he did, however, things changed. Justice realized as a result that his rebellion wasn’t just about regaining his birthright; it was about life and society and happiness itself. It was about making the people happy, so that society could thrive, rather than forcing society to thrive, and hope that maybe the people would be happy, Camellia’s approach.
Justice wasn’t ready though. Even with his new resolve, he needed more. He needed more power, so that this could be the bloodless revolution he’d always hoped for. With a strong enough force, he thought, violence wouldn’t be necessary. He might have succeeded if it weren’t for that dreaded dream.
One night, on the midnight of All Hallows Eve’, Justice was transported to a magical world of darkness and night, where he confronted a monster; a monster whose darkness pierced his heart despite Justice success in defeating the creature. The darkness was only a seed, but it would grow, and Justice never even knew it was there.
Justice continued to search for the answer to his bloodless rebellion, and he was getting closer and closer to his goals, as Camellia’s power seemed to be slipping. He was so close. He attended the tournament of Love in the spring, ready to face his sister, as Shadow, as the masked adversary that would finally retake the throne, but she declined the match, claiming to be ‘ill’. Justice had failed at his first attempt, but he could win eventually. He had the upper hand now, as Camellia seemed ill, and as the world looked to ‘Shadow’ for the means of Rebellion as the Diamond kingdom began increasing in size.
But then the darkness took over.
InJustice made his first appearance, and his first action was to head straight for the castle. He was confronted in the tunnels beneath the castle by the adviser to the queen, and the defender to the queen: Insanity, and Odile. At this point, no one was who they were; no one was the real them, and yet, they all wanted similar things..Justice wanted off with Camellia’s head, and the other two somehow agreed to the notion.
Just as InJustice was about to kill his biological sister, Justice, the real Justice, took over again and stopped. Though, this didn’t stop Camellia from stabbing her brother in the gut-- but. It never happened. Someone saved him. Someone he had loved but never knew how. Someone he wished he’d taken care of. Someone he knew he’d avenge via his Rule of Light. That sacrifice was just what it took; just what it took for Justice’s bloodless rebellion to finally succeed. The Bloody Queen was taken away for her murderous deeds, and Justice regained the throne that was his destiny to hold.
He ruled the Diamond kingdom as king for months as a great king, and as relation healed, it seemed as if things were finally going back to normal. That’s how things seemed.
Justice was forced to plunge his Kingdom into war when the dark Kingdom of Oblivion waged war on the powerful Kingdom of the Diamonds, and Justice himself took to the battlefield to increase the morale of his slowly deplenishing armies. But..that day, Justice was killed. It wasn’t a beautiful death. It wasn’t a noble death. It wasn’t a death of betrayal, or of heartache. It was just..a death. Justice died, and that was that. Of course..the bond he had with the Pokemon from the Forest of time--the bond of the souls that was forged with the white creature known as Grace to him--She died too, because without Justice’s existence, she ceased to exist. She was the fairy prince of the forest of time, and yet she ran out of just that; time.
In just one day, the King of the greatest kindom in Perish--perished, as did the one creature it was his destiny to save. Could things have been any more depressing.
Yes.
Justice woke up. He woke up on an island, with Grace by his side, somehow drawn to him by the power of infinite destiny. Justice wasn’t the same though. He didn’t understand. He had let down his country, he had let down his friends, he had let down the dieties he’d sworn alleigance to, and yet he was allowed to live, and on such a paradise as well. He wandered for a while, trying to regain his composure, trying to figure things out. He’s a God now, and he doesn’t know why. He’s powerful now, and he doesn’t know how. But still, deep within that distraught and contrite heart, is the rebellious spark that Justice knows so well. That deep powerful longing for things to be better by his hand. That overwhelming wish for things to change. There’s something else in there too now, as if the transition had fixed him back together, but had left him in pieces, pieces that were him and yet different.
Justice now wanders the island, hoping that his rebellion could one day find traction, and hoping that one day, he could be pieced back together..

Justice's powers are Manipulation, Deception, and Perception. Manipulation allows Justice to try and force his will upon other people. This can be subtle, from a short distance, so that the person would barely notice, and small changes can be made this way, or he also has a special ability that allows him to give a person an order, and they have to follow that order, no matter how absurd it is. Using this ability usually drains Justice considerably, but it drains him the same amount regardless of how many people he uses one use on.
Deception allows Justice to control illusions and make things appear to be that which they are not. The ability isn't simply limited to illusions; Justice has the ability to make his air or aura seem different than it is. With the flick of a wrist, Justice could appear to be the scariest person you've ever met without changing his appearance at all, only changing the way his presence makes itself apparent.
Perception allows Justice to read others thoughts as well as their emotions and to a point their memories. Justice also has telepathy, allowing him to scan an area to get the idea of his surroundings using just his mind, or he could speak to someone with his mind.
A few things change when justice's personas shift. Justice has purple hair, InJustice has black hair, Midnight has a strange almost metalic black hair that seems almost spacial in nature, and Justin's hair is blond. InJustice's eyes are red with a strange sigil in the middle of them, and Midnight's eyes are yellow with a beast like slit in the place of pupils. Justin's eyes are a blue-green.
The way the different persona's use their manipulation is also slightly different. InJustice uses people's minds against them, Midnight uses sheer force and fear factor to get what he wants if he isn't using violence, Shadow uses bluffing and extreme dramatics or extreme resources to get what he wants, and Justin uses his child-like charm to beg for what he wants.
If Justice remains as Midnight for too long, his body will eventually become more and more beast like, and it will become more and more dark magic oriented, until his body is overcome by the darkness and beast-like tendencies, almost like a dark werewolf. Justice doesn't know about this transformation, however.
Only Justice and InJustice are fully aware of the existence of Justin and Midnight. InJustice is unaware of the actions he takes as Justin and Midnight, however, only of their presence. Because Shadow isn't really a separate entity, all of the personas know of 'his' existence.
